Education & Training
Dr. Assefa earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC — one of the nation's most prestigious dental schools and a historic institution deeply rooted in the mission of service and equity. It was here that his passion for community-centered care was truly ignited.
Following graduation in 2015, Dr. Assefa completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York - an intensive, hospital-based program that sharpened his clinical skills across complex dental cases, medically compromised patients, and emergency dental care.
Since then, he has invested continuously in his craft, completing multiple Continuing Education (CE) courses across a range of disciplines — from advanced restorative techniques and implantology to pediatric dentistry and patient communication - ensuring that every patient at Nexus Dental benefits from the most current, evidence-based care available.
